The Inter-Galactic Touring Band is a wonderful combination of rock music and science fiction that takes us on an imaginary romp through the cosmos. Special sound effects, mostly performed by Larry Fast of the Synergy® Electronic Music label accentuate the experience and add realism to the entire work. Each song tells a different story. All of them are awe-inspiring. If you like science
fiction, you will enjoy the ideas presented in these wonderful stories. The music is
impeccably arranged and performed and some of the best vocal artists were chosen to sing the scores.
(Such as Meatloaf in The album includes a booklet which contains song lyrics, graphic illustrations, (reproduced in these pages), and all kinds of notes and commentaries which form a common background for all of the song stories, adding detail and realism to the entire IGTB experience. Plus the record sleve is printed on one side with tickets to the OED-3 for the IGTB concert, a VibraCorp T-Shirt and other such items, while the other side is a special display featuring six of VibraCorpīs most popular products and a printed order form. (Reproduced here in an interactive format.) It is a work accomplished with the same love and attention to detail that makes all great works unique. Unfortunately, the IGTB album was released only once back in 1977. After that it was never reissued and fell into obscurity. Today, it is almost totally unknown and you will have a very difficult time trying to find a copy. I have searched extensively for IGTB material for almost years. I have heard rumors of an animated IGTB broadcast once presented on HBO but have never been able to confirm it and I now believe there never was such a thing. Naturally, the music of the IGTB album, unlike so many others, has never been reproduced in MIDI or any other format that I know of. That is why these pages are silent. If you know of or have come across any IGTB material out there in cyberspace, (especially MIDIīs of the IGTB music), please do me the kindness of letting me know about it and I will gladly add it to these pages and give you credit for the information. I have tried to reproduce some of the "feeling" of the IGTB experience in these pages, as much as is possible without actually experiencing the album itself. As mentioned before, a lot of work went into the presentation of the IGTB album, to properly transfer all of that to this format, I have created special graphics and wrote some rather creative code. (Well, I think so.) As a result, these pages may take a little longer than usual to load, but I think they are worth the wait. I do this because I hope to revive interest in the "truly-original-music-loving-community" and create a market interest large enough that a reissue, (dare I hope!), of the IGTB album becomes attractive to those in possession of the original recordings. (Whomever and wherever they may be.) Update: The dream fulfilled! I have owned the vinyl IGTB record since it was marketed in 1977 and have always held it as the jewel of my collection, not only because it became so rare in later times, (it is virtually non-existent now), but because this is truly a great work of art and because in my view a very important piece of human destiny is encoded in it. The dreams, ideals, and aspirations expressed in The Inter-Galactic Touring Band album are worthy of the highest recognition, and that is my sole intention in posting this tribute. I aim only to revive and promote interest in this incredible piece of work--to save it from obscurity and oblivion--to bring it back to the forefront of modern awareness, and perhaps give people a new dream, one that will obliterate all of our tired nightmares. All Inter-Galactic Touring Band Material contained in these pages is owned and Copyrighted by: Passport Records, Inc. The sole interest of these pages is to promote the IGTB album and try to bring about a reissue. No profit will be accepted from this action or any consequence of this action. All graphics are either reduced in size, decolorized or both. No IGTB material is available from this source to anyone in any form other than what is shown here. |
